Iran defeats U.S. Navy in defiant animated film

A full-length animated film depicting an armed confrontation between Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and the U.S. Navy is soon to open in Iranian cinemas, amid rising tensions over President Donald Trump’s hardening rhetoric against Tehran.

The director of the “Battle of Persian Gulf II”, Farhad Azima, said that it was a remarkable coincidence that the release of the film – four years in the making – coincided with a “warmongering” president sitting in the White House.

It’s official: Our enemy is the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS

The Islamic State terrorist group would be still be as barbaric under any of its labels: ISIL (preferred under the Obama administration), or Daesh (the moniker of choice ISIS for many world leaders and some of its adversaries in the Middle East).

But henceforth, by decree, the Pentagon, in all official references will refer to the terror network as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or ISIS. A memo circulated Tuesday throughout the military makes that clear.

More than half of NFL players booked for Israel PR trip withdraw

The Israeli government has suffered an embarrassing blow after it emerged that only five of 11 NFL players turned up for an all-expenses paid PR trip organised to improve Israel’s image.

A storm of criticism had developed last week after the Israeli tourism minister claimed the players making the trip would serve as “ambassadors of goodwill for Israel”. Michael Bennett, the Seahawks defensive end, withdrew from the trip on Friday in protest at being “used” in such a way. He said he would visit Israel in his own time.

John Bates, Whistleblower Climate Scientist, Smeared by Global Warming Advocates

The scandal is growing, as Congress investigates and NOAA brings in outside experts to review a key study. Less than 72 hours after a federal whistleblower exposed shocking misconduct at a key U.S. climate agency, the CEO of the nation’s top scientific group was already dismissing the matter as no biggie. On February 7, Rush Holt, head of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), told a congressional committee that allegations made by a high-level climate scientist were simply an “internal dispute between two factions” and insisted that the matter was “not the making of a big scandal.” (This was moments after Holt lectured the committee that science is “a set of principles dedicated to discovery,” and that it requires “humility in the face of evidence.” Who knew?)

‘Honest’ PBS Clinton Documentary Lies About the Economy

Public Television touted the Bill Clinton documentary as a long-awaited warts-and-all piece. USA Today called the two-parter a “solid and even-handed account … of a remarkably skillful politician with an immense intellect.” While calling it “tedious and predictable,” The Washington Post described the documentary as “honest.”

In the first hour, the documentary stumbled out of the gate. If it were a racehorse, they’d have to put it down. The whopper we get hit with right away and again and again is this: Clinton inherited a recession — not an economy that long ago came out of a recession. Never mind that 1993 — 19 years ago — is within the living memory of many Americans. Yet we are repeatedly told that Clinton entered office under a full-on economic meltdown.

The narrator says: “Heading into the fall (of l992) … with the economy still faltering. …”
