Former N.H. Gov. John Sununu has created another unwelcome distraction for the Romney campaign — this time for suggesting that Colin Powell endorsed President Obama because they are both black.
Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and a co-chair of Mitt Romney's campaign, created a stir this summer by telling reporters that he wished Obama "would learn how to be an American." After a flurry of criticism, he backtracked on the comment.
On CNN Thursday night, Sununu again strayed off-message when asked about Powell's endorsement of Obama earlier that day.
